Viola Marie “Barbara” Johnson, 79, of Edison, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Barbara was born and raised in Jersey City and has lived in Edison for the past 36 years. Prior to her retirement, she was a crossing guard for Edison Township. She was a member of the Red Hatters, and in her free time she enjoyed spending time with her children and spoiling her grandkids. She was a devout Catholic and attended mass regularly when able. She was a supportive and involved mother and grandmother who will be sorely missed, strong with a fighting spirit that she passed down to her children. Barbara was predeceased by her husband, James Johnson; parents, Stanley and Viola Miller; and her sister, Irene Miller. She is survived by her children, Michael Johnson, Tammy Patnaik and her husband Asis, Ann Marie Dooling and her fiancé James Scott and Laurie Clemintone and her husband Brian; step daughters, Terri Conway and husband Dave, Tammy Douglas and Lisa Hamilton; brothers, Stanley Miller and his wife Judy, Robert Miller and his wife Kathleen and Ronald Miller; sisters, Veronica Lusnia and her husband Anthony and Gail Mlodzianowski and her husband Steve; along with her grandchildren Eddie, Heather, Shannon, Christina, Brian, Amanda, Jimmy, Anthony, Kenny, Matthew, Trevor, Samantha, and Mike; as well as many great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Monday, January 24, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Avenue, Edison. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. at St. Matthew the Apostle Church, Edison. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society.
