Obituary of Anne R. Manley

Anne R. Manley, 90, of New Brunswick, passed away on Wednesday September 15, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. Anne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. As a lifelong resident of New Brunswick she was active in community affairs and previously served as an Extraordinary Minister as a parishioner of St. Peter the Apostle Church. Anne loved the rich neighborhood surroundings including Buccleuch Park, Rutgers University Saint Peter’s Church and of course downtown New Brunswick with it’s beautiful Library. Over the years, she loved to share the heritage and beauty of New Brunswick with her family. Following her graduation from St. Peter’s Nursing School, Anne worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Peter’s University Hospital retiring in 1994. She was a member of the Nursing Auxiliary, and the St. Peter’s PTA. Anne was exceptionally energetic, and quick-witted. She loved working and assisting people wherever needed. As her family grew and she devoted time to her children, she also worked part time and was always assigned to the busiest floor where she was needed. She loved reading, traveling, swimming, and long walks particularly on the Rutgers University Campus and Buccleuch Park near her home. She could not pass up the Wednesday buy one get one free sundae specials at the local Carvel. Above all, she loved being a mother and grandmother and spending time with her family, hosting countless Sunday and holiday dinners at her home and cookouts with her family at “sunny” Cedar Hills Swim Club where she was a fixture for 55 years. Anne was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years William Manley (2018); her brother, John Selesky, Jr. and sisters Rita DeSanto and Mary Anderson. Anne was a loving wife and mother of eight, grandmother of 19 and great-grandmother of six. She is survived by her children and their spouses, William and Lisa Manley of Griggstown, Kevin and Karen Manley of Princeton, Barbara and Peter Tumulty of Milltown, Mary Ficke of Madison, Joseph and Lynne Manley of North Brunswick, Elizabeth Manley and Joan Mutascio of West Orange, Peg Manley of Bethesda, MD and Catherine and Stephen Sterner of South Brunswick. Gram will be dearly missed by her 19 grandchildren and their (spouses), Corinne Kaminsky, Matthew Manley, Megan (Joe) Ross, Peter (Rachel) Tumulty, Kevin (Mary Ruth) Manley, Christopher (Lauren) Ficke, Caitlyn Tumulty, Matthew Ficke, Will Manley, Erika Manley, Emily Ruud (Kevin), Kelly Manley, Samantha Sterner, Mike Manley, Patrick Tumulty, Shaun Sterner, Joe Manley, Shannen Sterner and Katherine Manley.
