Obituary of John R Sorge

John R. Sorge, 86, of Highland Park, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018 at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick.   Born in Milltown, son of the late John and Jeanne Sorge, he was raised in Edison and later Highland Park where he lived most of his life. 

Mr. Sorge was employed as a Research Assistant at DuPont in Parlin, before retiring in 1991. He enjoyed spending time with his children & grandchildren, was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed time spent fishing. 

He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years Marcia (Rold) Sorge of Highland Park; his children: John Sorge and wife Elise of Branchburg, Marilee Martin and husband Bud of Edison, Jeff Sorge and wife Erin of Somerset, and Marci Schmid and husband Geno of New Egypt; his 9 grandchildren Brett & wife Cassie, Traci, Alexandra, Devin, Christopher, Nicholas, Matthew, Michael, and Jeffrey; great-granddaughter Makenna; and his siblings Richard Sorge and Angela Karwoski. 

A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 5th from 4-7PM at Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Avenue, Edison. 

The family asks that donations, in lieu of flowers, be made in John’s name to Children's Specialized Hospital, 150 New Providence Rd. Mountainside, NJ 07092.
