Patrick M. Gardella, 53, formerly of Edison, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017. Born in Perth Amboy, he was raised in Edison. He spent his summers at Lake Delaware Boy's Camp in Delhi, NY, graduating at 16 as a First Lieutenant. Mr. Gardella served in the Coast Guard for 10 years, and then entered the Reserves at which time he was employed as a Prison Guard in North Carolina. He entered the Army and was an E5 Sergeant serving in both Afghanistan and Iraq before being honorably discharged. He loved cooking as well as time outdoors camping and fishing, and above all spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by his family who love him for his dedication to his country and his devotion to them. He was predeceased by his father John J. Gardella. Surviving are his beloved children Nicole Gardella of Raleigh, NC, Evan Gardella of Cherryville, NC, and Lily Rayne of Louisiana. His mother Patricia Ann Reilly; siblings John E. Gardella, Venice C. Rohde, Michelle K. Gardella, Peter D. Gardella and wife Kim, Stephanie M. Bardsley, Thomas J. Gardella, Raphael M. Gardella and significant other Holly, Anthony T. Gardella, and Daniel A. Gardella; his uncle Thomas Reilly and wife Lucy, his aunt Madeleine Gardella Henley, his significant other Kimberly Y. Johannes; and his beloved American Eskimo Kodi. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 1, 2017 from 9-11 am at Boylan Funeral Home 10 Wooding Ave., Edison. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Metuchen.
