Obituary of Robert Voorhees

Robert F. Voorhees, 95, of Edison passed away peacefully on June 18, 2017 at Brighton Garden Nursing Home. He was born on March 25, 1922, the son of Edward and Laura (Meeker) Voorhees. Robert was a lifelong resident of Edison. As a young man he joined the United States Navy and served in WW2. Following his service he was employed at the Edison Police Department were he would later retire as Lieutenant after 30 years of service to his community. Robert was also active in many clubs which includes Boy Scouts of America, Edison PBA #75 where he was a past president in 1958, Honor Legion Police Departments State of New Jersey, First Commander of American Edison Legion #435, Masonic Lodge #240 of Highland Park, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Trenton, Crescent Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. of Trenton and a volunteer Fireman of Raritan Engine Company #1. Robert is predeceased by his dear wife Olga (Frey) Voorhees in 2007.Robert is survived by his son Jeff and his wife Lisa of Edison. Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 4pm - 7pm at Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Avenue, Edison, NJ. Family and friends are asked to gather at the Funeral Home at 10am. Interment will take place following the gathering at 10:15am at White Church Cemetery, Edison, NJ.
